A community meeting was held at the Westside Community Center, 1628 Bijou Street, on Thursday, April 4th, 2024, 6-7pm to discuss the 144 multi-family development on the SW corner of  19th street and King Street.

Residents left this meeting very frustrated that adequate traffic studies were not done intentionally ignoring the problem areas.  Additionally, residents new to this process were stunned to hear that "this is it" in terms of the process.  The City can administratively approve this development.  Westside Watch asked the planner why the City always leaves off the most important criteria routinely in their criteria list.  That is:

7.1.103: PURPOSE:
The purpose of this UDC is to:
  A.   Promote health, safety, and general welfare of the public;

Below is the response to concerned residents from City Planner Chris Sullivan.  Westside Watch asked for a details explanation of the process, but as is often the case, we have not received that.  It's murky, at best.  We will keep asking.
